Crash my Room
This particular performative installation deals with women’s issues and traditionally feminine disciplines with the aim of reclaiming equality. Through my work, I am attempting to deal with the male gaze and the ways in which I feel when I become the object of the male gaze. Pantyhose are used to address attraction to the female form, but they are contorted into these grotesque lumps to illustrate how I physically feel in certain social situations. I aim to magnify the objectification of women, flirting with the act of revealing and concealing vs. the attraction and repulsion paradoxes.
And it worked.
*More to come on the experiences that I faced during this event.
